Plus, I wanted to make a reference to Sonya’s MK3 outfit mixed with a new design. After all, Sonya using an exo-suit made sense to me, considering that her friend, Jax, has cybernetic arms. I struggled with the maelstrom. I tried a lot of different styles. I needed around three days to find a satisfiying solution for me. Altogether I worked one week at that scene. I hope you like it. All of his work is really special and a very encouraging opportunity to have fun adapting his work to 3D. This little model was made using Blender and Photoshop. The sci-fi space suit was the coolest part to do, I especially love how all the shapes combine together. The baby was rigged then posed last to fit the tummy in its fetal position. I kept the textures high quality 4096, drew out some of the shadows staying true to the paintings style and colours. This project feels like the reimaging of two separate projects I’ve done in the past. Mountain top castle, and lighthouse island. Both projects that at the time I was pleased with, but looking back on I felt weren’t my best. I liked their premises a lot so I went ahead and merged the two together. Thus Castle Island was born! Now for this scene, I did something I don’t often do when It comes to modelling scenes. I purchased pre-existing work. I know! Crazy, but I was having a strange amount of trouble modelling grass, I couldn’t get anything that looked “grass” you know? I found an awesome little collection pack of low poly natural and organic models. Something I do tend to struggle with making so I was in awe that I found something that fit my style and could be a great leg up in terms of things I struggle with. Definitely going to see if I can leverage these assets in the future.
