Asset information: A nightmarish interpretation of the sculpture set titled Dia y Noche (Day and Night) by Spanish painter and Velazquez Prize Winner Antonio Lopez Garcia. The artwork consists of two 3 meter high baby heads representing the day and the night inspired by one of the artist’s baby granddaughters. The 3D model shown here corresponds to the head sculpture called Night.

Princess Sputnik is inspired upon Mark Ryden’s enchanting painting of a little space girl.
It is my favourite of his collection “The Meat Show” http://www.markryden.com/paintings/meat/
Recently I had the unique chance of seeing some of Ryden’s best work at an exhibit near me, and meeting the artist himself!
All of his work is really special and a very encouraging opportunity to have fun adapting his work to 3D.
This little model was made using Blender and Photoshop.
The sci-fi space suit was the coolest part to do, I especially love how all the shapes combine together.
The baby was rigged then posed last to fit the tummy in its fetal position.
I kept the textures high quality 4096, drew out some of the shadows staying true to the paintings style and colours.
