I came across this amazing hand-painted house by Antonio Neves: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/low-poly-house I need to practice making World of Warcraft environment models, (wanna work for Blizzard so bad!), so I had to take a stab at making this house myself! My goal was to gain experience with this fast workflow. I actually threw down a bit of paint in blender while very roughly blocking in and UVing the house, to get me an idea of what I could get away with tiling. Then I opened the simple texture in Ps to arrange the islands and actually paint it nicely. Back to blender, re-alligned the UV islands, then created a second set of UVs, and baked a couple maps for light mapping. Mixed those in Ps, and figured out how to get UV sets into Sketchfab. Done! I think I finished this in only 9 hours! Fast for me! Stoked to get experience doing things for quick flat models. Modeled and textured for my MFA thesis, I researched artifacts at the American Civil War Museum in Richmond Virginia, and digitally restored these artifacts to what they might have looked like when they were first created. This pipe was heavily damaged and missing large chunks in the bowl. Restoring these missing pieces, and reducing the amount of wear on the pipe brought back more color and smoother features. Smoking was much more taboo back in the mid 1800s, even among soldiers. It was suposedly designed to allow to hear soldiers cllimbing the wall as they would eventally let a small rock fall. This third wall is a low wall before a gate to enter the castle ground. Oda Nobunaga ordered this Castle contruction as a base for the invasion of Tanba region. This is a 3D model is from a laser scanning survey of the remains of a slave house chimney (Chimney 3) from the Stafford Plantation on Cumberland Island National Seashore. The Chimneys are a series of 26 hearth and brick remains in three parallel rows that are found nearby the main Stafford plantation house. The site is undergoing restoration treatments and our 3D survey was performed prior to that work, digitally documenting and preserving the site for archival purposes. I captured 3 walls sections, the interesting thing here is the technique used to build the wall. It was suposedly designed to allow to hear soldiers cllimbing the wall as they would eventally let a small rock fall. I bought a setup for my microscope to use it as a photogrammetry tool for very small objects. I’m not there yet regarding accuracy, but I am pleased with this first results. The photogrammetry C1 I made by mirroring the half that was completely scanned, and I still miss a lot of details, but the reason for wanting to be able to also make photogrammetry models is that I want to be sure about the overall shape of my models. As you can see, even though most of it is the same, especially the transverse processes (the “wings”) have a slightly different orientation. I need to redo the scan to be sure if I need to remodel the modeled C1. I added another scan made with agisoft with the same set of photos. The scan is totally different somehow, not only in the details but also in the larger features. (and yes, I’m a perfectionist..) Edit: added yet another version with agisoft. Used 514 photos and mirrored one half. It’s getting better, even without image stacking. The Domes were built to facilitate the manufacturing of computers. They were built in 1983 by InnerConn Technology Inc., a manufacturer of circuit boards for computers and watches. They chose this design because they were fast and cheap to build. However during the build InnerConn Technologies defaulted on a loan and they stopped all construction and were never completed. Over the years they have deteriorated and have been vandalized. This one has been photographed and turned into a 3D model to historically preserve its place in time. I’ve always been a massive fan of Warhammer 40K. Starting out with a Necron army in 2005. I’ve been wanting to do a piece like this for a while and have had a lot of fun in bringing the Kommando to life. A Kommando (pl.
