First time properly using Substance Painter - Croix De Guerre 1939, given to brave souls who fought along side the allies during WW2.
Some areas aren’t as accurate as I’d like them to be due to having to work around an issue in photoshop (had to mess about with the UV a little, so there’s a tiny bit of weirdness). That said, this has been an important breakthrough in my workflow and I’ve finally entered the realm of PBR.
Whilst I do own (and quite like) Quixel, its shortcomings are mostly performance based, whereas Substance does very well in this case. The thing with Substance is pinpoint accuracy is at a loss along with important things like proper brush scaling on both U and V. I’ve yet to check out the latest version of Substance though. This sculpture dates to the Late Preclassic and could likely originates from the Copan area of Honduras, bordering Guatemala. The monument is tenoned and could have been used as ornamentation on a structure. The glyphic text on the head and back of the piece relate to the monument’s dedication and ownership. Part of a 3D digitization initiative with the Popol Vuh Museum in Guatemala City, and in collaboration with Camilo Luin, Curator, the Digital Heritage and Humanities Center at the University of South Florida Libraries,has partnered to document important sculpture and artifacts.
