Prompted by the lovely staff here at Sketchfab, I have decided to research a bit more about the pistol this model is based on, and boy was it a fun read! Fun Fact: It costs over 3000$ today The design dates from the 1860s, and is attributed to Louis Dolne. The gun was manufactured until the end of the 1800s. One of the rarest gambler/hide away/ personal defense deringers around. Incorporates a 6mm (22) rimfire revolver, “knuckles" that unfold to provide a grip for the revolver and a 2 1/2" folding dagger. Weapon is 4" long when folded. Expands to 8" when at full length. Marked “Dolne - 6mm" (L. Dolne - Imuur) on frame, folding trigger and exposed springs. Brushed finish, overall excellent. Known as the Apache Knuckle-duster (Up-Pash) for the Parisian fighters, called Apaches, that colonized the French capital starting in 1875. When I saw that Sketchfab is hosting weekly challenges, I immediately knew I had to participate since I’m struggling getting projects done and instead work on them for what feels like centuries.
For the topic “Heart” I was thinking about some sort of “modern” Cupid and decided to create a new tool instead of the classic bow and arrow. For guns I find the design of revolvers very interesting, so I went with that. My version of Cupid is a highschool girl who works as Cupid as a part-time job and uses this (obviously non-lethal) gun to make people fall in love. Because she is quite young, I chose bright blue and pink colors, decorated the grips with doodles and added hearts in various ways.

My project of gun used during the American Civil war. I liked its organic shapes and lines. It was pretty challenging to model using only reference photos and basic dimentions. Original gun had percussion configuration and took so long to reload so it was easer just to change a cylinder or have a spare pistol.
It is a game ready gun with about 21k tris with bullets and one 4k texture set.
