This house was once belonged to a timber baron in a small Northern California city. But after the logging industry went bust, it’s owner abandoned it to the elements. While not a complete ruin, this house will need a lot of TLC to bring it back to it’s former glory. This house was an experiment for me in tileable materials and seeing how far I could get using nothing but Photoshop for texture creation instead of my usual go to, Substance Painter. Most of these materials started out with a diffuse texture I either photographed myself or found on CGtextures.com. I then created the normal, spec, emmisive, etc in Photoshop. I think this technique works well if you’re going to be putting the model into an engine like Unity or Unreal. The textures hold up at very close and they can be used across many different buildings or props you may have in your game. Also being able to add secondary textures would allow for more variations like grunge. Upper portion of a limestone statue of Thutmose III from Deir el-Bahri displayed in the Cairo Museum. The torso of the statue without the face was found in the early 20th century and now is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The face was found during excavations at Deir el-Bahri by the Polish Expedition in the 1960s and is in the Cairo Museum collections. Casts were made of each poriton of the statue and exchanged between the institutions. Today the original face and cast of the torso can be seen in Cairo and the original torso and cast of the face can be seen in New York. Created from 113 images (Canon EOS Rebel T7i) using Metashape 1.7.5. Access to the back of the statue was difficult and repairs to the reconstructed mesh were made in Blender 2.92.
