I had the privilege to work with the super chill and talented teammate, Gabriel Eekenulv, Skyblivion’s Concept Art Lead. Together we produced this grand and regal set of armor. As a historical arms and armor enthusiast, I often time find it difficult to work with many fantasy concept arts. Most designs sacrifice basic understanding and practicality for “cool” aesthetics which make no sense. When I came across Eekenulv’s armor designs, however, I was in awe. His designs are grand, elegant, and “cool”, yet they maintain insights and functionality of armors, a perfect balance between “Realism” and “Suspension of Disbelieve”.
This was one of the most fun project I’ve produced in collaboration with others. Not to mention my Twitch subscribers who took part in submitting poleaxe designs, which eventually developed into the one you see. This was a PvP Arena I made for my friend’s minecraft v1.11.2 server. Players could fly around with my custom command block jetpack mechanism in the arena (sneak ingame to activate). They could run accross the dragon skeleton and use the rib cages as cover. They could also hit the fireballs at the corner towers to send it flying to opponents.
The overall style is based on the ruins in the game Journey, with a combination of the stepwell of Chand Baori from India, and Egyptian temples.

Build in minecraft v1.11.2 using default textures and worldedit plugin. Map cleanup with MCEdit. Model exported with Mineways. Uv unwrapped in Zbrush. Light, AO, and fog map baked in 3ds Max. Animated fireballs and clouds in 3ds Max.
Testing out animated effects. And baking maps in dual uv channels. Still getting tons of block export errors though 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 133947 polygons.
