I had the privilege to work with the super chill and talented teammate, Gabriel Eekenulv, Skyblivion’s Concept Art Lead. Together we produced this grand and regal set of armor. As a historical arms and armor enthusiast, I often time find it difficult to work with many fantasy concept arts. Most designs sacrifice basic understanding and practicality for “cool” aesthetics which make no sense. When I came across Eekenulv’s armor designs, however, I was in awe. His designs are grand, elegant, and “cool”, yet they maintain insights and functionality of armors, a perfect balance between “Realism” and “Suspension of Disbelieve”.
This was one of the most fun project I’ve produced in collaboration with others. Not to mention my Twitch subscribers who took part in submitting poleaxe designs, which eventually developed into the one you see. This is the Egyptian Revival Style mausoleum of Emil Winter in Pittsburgh’s Allegheny Cemetery. The model was created using Agisoft’s Photoscan Pro from 80, 18MP images taken on July 19, 2015 using a Canon EOS Rebel T3i and a 18-55mm lens. Still a work in progress with additional detail to add and geometry to fix.
The mausoleum was built in 1930 and is a nearly exact duplicate of the one designed by John Russell Pope in 1920 and built for department store mogul F. W. Woolworth in Woodlawn Cemetery in New York.
