So finally January has gone. And with it, my first year here, in Sketchfab. A long path that actually has passed so fast to me. Since that day that I decided to create my portfolio online, I´ve improved my modeling skills in someway, I suppose. Proof of that is my first appearance in a videogame credits as Environment & Asset Artist. And the result of all these feelings, is this tribute to my all time favourite surreal Artist. In an attempt to traslate the magic of the oniric world that René Magritte created in 1936, I´m so proud with the result, trying to go beyond the canvas… Completely made with 3dsMax & texturized with Photoshop. Upper portion of a limestone statue of Thutmose III from Deir el-Bahri displayed in the Cairo Museum. The torso of the statue without the face was found in the early 20th century and now is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The face was found during excavations at Deir el-Bahri by the Polish Expedition in the 1960s and is in the Cairo Museum collections. Casts were made of each poriton of the statue and exchanged between the institutions. Today the original face and cast of the torso can be seen in Cairo and the original torso and cast of the face can be seen in New York.
Created from 113 images (Canon EOS Rebel T7i) using Metashape 1.7.5. Access to the back of the statue was difficult and repairs to the reconstructed mesh were made in Blender 2.92.
