It's almost a year ago that I uploaded my first ship model, the IJN Fubuki, so I decided to make one of her more advanced sister ships: The IJN Ayanami. The Ayanami was build for the Imperial Japanese Navy and when introduced into service she was one of the most powerful destroyer in the world. She sustained critical damage after being shelled by the USS Washington during the second phase of the Battle of Guadalcanal (15 November 1942) and was later scuttled by IJN Uranami. The Messerschmitt Me 264 was a long-range strategic bomber developed during World War II for the German Luftwaffe as its main strategic bomber. The design was later selected as Messerschmitt’s competitor in the Reichsluftfahrtministerium’s (the German Air Ministry) Amerikabomber programme, for a strategic bomber capable of attacking New York City from bases in France or the Azores.
Three prototypes were built but production was abandoned to allow Messerschmitt to concentrate on fighter production and the Junkers Ju 390 was selected in its place. Development continued as a maritime reconnaissance aircraft instead.

Martin B-26 Marauder is an American twin-engined medium bomber that saw extensive service during World War II. First used in the Pacific Theater of World War II in early 1942, it was also used in the Mediterranean Theater and in Western Europe. After entering service with the United States Army aviation units, the aircraft quickly received the reputation of a “widowmaker” due to the early models’ high accident rate during takeoffs and landings. This was because the Marauder had to be flown at precise airspeeds, particularly on final runway approach or when one engine was out. A total of 5288 were produced between February 1941 and March 1945.

Vasa was a Swedish warship that capsized and sank off Beckholmen in Stockholm’s inlet on its maiden voyage, August 10, 1628. After some early unsuccessful attempts to rescue her in the 17th century, Vaasa was largely forgotten.
The ship’s approximate position remained known until the middle of the 19th century, but no serious attempts were made to salvage it. In 1956, the amateur researcher and engineer Anders Franzén, together with the diver Per Edvin Fälting, succeeded in re-establishing Vaasa’s exact position and after several years of marine archeological excavations and preparations, Vasa was lifted above the water surface on April 24, 1961.
Since 1990 the ship is included in a permanent exhibition in Stockholm.
