I was aiming for a Warcraft look (as in Frozen Throne, not necessarily WoW) with limited resolution hand painted textures.
Glow FX were originally done as billboard planes, flickering was achieved by randomly rescaling them; the little bat and moving candle flames were animated by shifting UV - as these techniques are currently unavailable on Sketchfab I edited them out and left a static model with no billboard tracking. Delete all except body and armature
pose the model to A-pose or T-pose
Transform tab: check “apply transform”.
Geometry tab: check “apply modifiers”.
Armature tab: uncheck “Add Leaf Bones”.
Bake Animation: Uncheck.
Save the FBX and the new blend file (dont overwrite the original)
Upload to mixamo (choose animation)
Download animation
reimport the new fbx to blender (delete body mesh and old armature)
parent everything again to the new armature using ctrl+p
