Hello! I revisited Claw machine’s draft after getting feedback about trasnitions and details, but design was updated mostly due to my freind’s and my new ideas and thoughts for this model and for our project. We decided to make it more stylised, chunky and relevant for the planned project, early on I imagined that cabinet is metalic with planks’ pattern drawn on but I decided to make it made out of actual wooden planks that reinforce the idea of barn-like arcade machine. I also refined shapes and details and their transitions, now it should be ok for model’s draft. A personal project that I’ve been doing in my spare time for about a year. I have learned many new things during this time, for example, how to use Unreal Engine 5 and Substance Designer. Also I repeated the basics of 3D pipeline I learned at XYZ School.
Most importantly, I managed to convey the mood with which the people of the post-Soviet space are picking berries. An old but reliable grandfather’s scooter, a couple of buckets and a good tovarisch nearby – everything you need for a “quiet hunt”.
For the terrain I used the “Simple grass chunks” by 3dhdscan and the “Grassy Ground” texture by Game Textures.

Here there are some texturing steps for the buildings in our project “Wall Town”.
I used 3d-Coat.
Step 1: I made normals for some panels and baked the occlusion
Step 2: Base colors. I made a color palette and I picked my colors from there. I also added some bolts on the metal plates.
Step 3: I added some smart materials, dirt and a gradient from the bottom.
Step 4: I hand painted all the rust effects, and other little dirt effects.

And welcome to the final result of the July Project of my Patreon.
I really enjoyed making this more realistic Dinosaur style, because I used the new blender 2.8 with all the new features that it has. And this new version of blender is greatest, they improve a lot the 3D performance, the visualization of the matcaps and the workflow, is more intuitive to work and smoother.
Definitely is a great update of this awesome software.
