3D scan of a primeval dwarf horse (Eurohippus messelensis) fossil from Messel, which is todays Darmstadt, Germany. Fossils from this area are extraordinarily good preserved. That is because 47 million years ago there was a tropical forest around Lake Messel, and on its floor the oxygen-deprived environment prevented decomposition of the corpses that sunk into the lake. This primeval dwarf horse of Messel is Number 28 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 9 in Showcase 68 at the NHM Vienna. This came out after a massive raw photogrammetry scan I did a while ago, I reprocessed it focusing more on the lift itself and with a slightly different method and set of photos (1600 x45MP photos). There is a little bonus, a shovel just hanging there, I decided to keep it.

The Artemision Bronze (often called the God from the Sea) is an ancient Greek sculpture that was recovered from the sea off Cape Artemision, in northern Euboea, Greece. According to most scholars, the bronze represents Zeus, the thunder-god and king of gods, though it has also been suggested it might represent Poseidon. The statue is slightly over lifesize at 209 cm, and would have held either a thunderbolt, if Zeus, or a trident if Poseidon. The jetski belongs to the world champion György Kasza and his team. The purpose of the scan is to make a perfect fit bespoke fabricated composite cover, therefore some reverse engineering was necessary to get a native CAD data (step) to be able to machine the mold for the composite. 3D scan of a trumpeter swan (Cygnus buccinator), which is the largest native water bird in Northern America and has been widespread there. These birds are around 1.5 meters long, with a wingspan of more than 2 meters. Trumpeter swans got their vernacular name due to their trumpet-like calls. This also reflects the scientific species name derived from “buccinare” – to trumpet.
The exhibited specimen originates from the Tiergarten Nürnberg and came to the NHM Vienna in 1978.
This trumpeter swan can be found in Hall 30 of the Natural History Museum Vienna.

It seems likely that it was originally made as part of the furniture in one of the churchesin the episcopal centre.

This building is located in Tbilisi at the top of the Digomi Hills. It used to be a water tank, but in the late 1980s the tank was remodeled and there were plans to open an archaeology museum in it.
