The wooden replica was in poor shape from exposure and seems to have been lost. When the city decided to replace the replica, I supplied a copy of Frederic Auguste Bartholdi’s early study maquette to be used for modeling. The replica was set atop the original pedestal previously occupied by the wooden replica. I used my iPhone mounted on a painters pole with a bluetooth remote to snap photos of the upper parts of the replica. In total, I used 288 photos out of nearly 600 taken.
