3D scan of the mounted white-tailed eagle pair (Haliaeetus albicilla) from the Danube wetlands near Vienna. These birds were bagged by Crown Prince Rudolf on the 22nd of January 1889, only nine days before he committed suicide in Mayerling, Austria. The nest of the white-tailed eagles called eyrie can be as tall as four meters and is often used for many years. The white-tailed eagle pair with a fledgling at the center is Number 74 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 29 of the NHM Vienna. The Russian Princess Maria Barjatinskaja came to Rome in 1818 with her husband. At his wish, she was modelled by Thorvaldsen. The marble sculpture was created in 1821-25, but was never delivered. After the Princess’s death, her family demanded to have the statue handed over, but instead accepted a copy made by Thorvaldsen’s most important Danish apprentice, the sculptor H. W. Bissen. Today the sculpture is in the Pushkin Museum in Moscow.

Cooperation with our friends at G-3D-PrintThe front cover of the jetski was scanned using Artec Leo in 15 minutes (including chalc sraying, markers, etc.) and the post-process workflow took about 60 minutes in Artec Studio. The jetski belongs to the world champion György Kasza and his team. The purpose of the scan is to make a perfect fit bespoke fabricated composite cover, therefore some reverse engineering was necessary to get a native CAD data (step) to be able to machine the mold for the composite. For this, weve sed Quicksurface’s Autosurface option to get the nurbs surface based on the HQ mesh.
