The sword was introduced by General Order in 1796, replacing the previous 1786 Pattern. It was similar to its predecessor in having a spadroon blade, i.e. one straight, flat backed and single edged with a single fuller on each side. The hilt was of gilt brass or gunmetal, with a knucklebow, vestigial quillon and a twin-shell guard somewhat similar in appearance to that of the smallswords which had been common civilian wear until shortly before this period. During the construction of a new riverside wall in 1962 in London, the remains of an interesting ship were found. Dating evidence from the timbers and a coin found in the mast step placed the ship as likely being built, and sunk, during the Roman period, specifically in the 2nd Century CE. However, the ship was constructed in the Celtic tradition.
The reconstruction is based primarily on the excavation report by Peter Marsden published by English Heritage, “Ships of the Port of London – First to eleventh Centuries AD”. It contained detailed drawings of the remains and reconstruction drawings. Where no evidence remained, such as for the sails and the rear of the ship, Roman period iconography and other Roman period shipwrecks from northern Europe were used as inspiration. The sail plan is based of the Torlonia relief, and the nearly intact mast of a Roman period ship found in Bruges, Belgium. This model has been made in Zbrush with textures added in Substance Painter. The model is based on a find at Broughton Roman villa during a Time Team excavation. The find was very corroded as you would expect and I wondered what it might have looked like when in use. I have used images of other similar coins for reference and created this model showing how it might have looked - with perhaps a bit of wear.

This modern building was created with the need for modern building to be set up in Unreal Engine (or any game engine). However, it can easily be used for an Arch Viz scene or animation.
It was built to be versatile, so can be used as a art gallery, office, museum or modern home etc…
Many of the Arch Viz style buildings (free or paid for) you can download online are made with sketchup or Revit, these are excellent tools, but when the models are exported they can be split into hundreds or thousands of pieces which is not always practical for a game engine. And whilst they can be joined together again, I created this modern building that is low poly and easy to set up in a games engine.
