This model was captured following excavation of Trench 5 at Lisnamanore (CO084-084), Garranes, Co. Cork. Some 33 cubic metres of material was carefully removed by students of the MA in Archaeological Excavation (2013/14) to reveal the surface now exposed. This enclosure is some 65 metres in diameter and was originally enclosed by a stake/post fence and external ditch (approx. 1.25 metres deep). Note the linear arrangement of stakeholes marking the line of the fence. Two wide trenches running parallel across the surface are the remains of more recent cultivation (ridge-and-furrow) and have cut across earlier trench features. This site has been dated to the later part of the 5th Century AD. Approx 100m to the E is the well-known Garranes trivallate ringfort.
This trench has been back-filled and the site now fully reinstated. The model was generated using Agisoft with some further processing in MeshLab. I bought a setup for my microscope to use it as a photogrammetry tool for very small objects. I’m not there yet regarding accuracy, but I am pleased with this first results. The photogrammetry C1 I made by mirroring the half that was completely scanned, and I still miss a lot of details, but the reason for wanting to be able to also make photogrammetry models is that I want to be sure about the overall shape of my models. As you can see, even though most of it is the same, especially the transverse processes (the “wings”) have a slightly different orientation. I need to redo the scan to be sure if I need to remodel the modeled C1.
I added another scan made with agisoft with the same set of photos. The scan is totally different somehow, not only in the details but also in the larger features.
(and yes, I’m a perfectionist..)
Edit: added yet another version with agisoft. Used 514 photos and mirrored one half. It’s getting better, even without image stacking. The microsope probably isn’t good enough to do that 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 76836 polygons.

Unfortunately, the museum was never opened. The building has stood empty and semi-abandoned ever since.
