This manuscript is composed of four papyrus sheets, each with four pages of text (two on each side). The four sheets were put one on top of the other, folded and then stitched together. There are remains of sewing thread on some sheets.
The subject of the book is prognostications to be derived from involuntary movement (quivering or twitching) of various parts of the body. That such movements portended certain events was a popular belief which finds expression in both Greek and Latin classical literature. The various members of the body are taken one after the other, starting from the head downwards, and the omens associated with their movement are concisely enumerated. Cairn Liath is an Iron Age broch that sits proudly on a rocky knoll and commands views over a long stretch of coastline. Broch’s are substantial stone towers or roundhouses only found in the far north of Scotland. They were constructed and used between 600 BC and 100 AD.
This broch has a circular interior 10.2m in diameter and substantial walls over 5m thick; there was one entrance passage to the building. The walls survive to 3.66m high, but originally the building would have stood to a considerably height and had higher floors. A staircase to higher levels was built into the wall.
The third Duke of Sutherland ‘cleared’ this broch in 1868 and some of his finds from his antiquarian excavations are preserved in the National Museum of Scotland. Used 231 cross polarized photos and processed them in Agisoft Metashape. I sculpted the smooth parts of the model in Blender and then decimated the model in Agisoft and then manually optimized the lowpoly geometry in Blender. UV was also initially generated in Metashape and manually optimized in Blender. PBR maps were created in Substance Painter.
