The Hallisches-Tor-Bruecke (fka. Belle-Alliance-Bruecke), a massive stone bridge after the design of Johann Heinrich Strack and Erich Dietrich, spans the Landwehrkanal since 1876. 1877, four sculptors were tasked with one allegorical marble sculpture (relating to the meaning of the Landwehrkanal) each. Bildhauer Eduard Lürssen (1840-1891) - Gewerbefleiss - fragmented in WWII Friedrich Reusch (1843-1906) - Fruchthandel - disappeared in WWII Julius Moser - Fischfang - restored to the original site Otto Geyer (1843-1914) - Flussschifffahrt - restored to the original site The latter two were removed 1902 for aesthetic reasons after the nearby railway station was expandedin 1902 and placed in front of the Kreuzberger Melanchtonkirche am Planufer where they escaped destruction during WWII. The Melanchtonkirche (church) was heavily damaged and explosively demolished in 1957. 1942 khaki battle dress blouse. This new style of jacket was developed for better manouverabillity with the increased introduction of motorised vehicles to the military. There are 2 hook and eye fastenings on the collar of the jacket with 5 metal buttons running down the right-hand side of the jacket. There are 2 pockets on either breast fastened with a plain button. On the top of either sleeve is a Cornwall badge in red, and directly brlow is a blue patch with a yellow dragon detailing. There is a slight spot of discoloration on the bottom of the breast pocket on the right- this almost looks like some sort of bleach stain. Inside the jacket is a label that reads “Battledress Blouses, Serge. Size no 6.” And the date stamp is June 1942.

Designed and constructed on commission of King Friedrich I. by Karl Friedrich Schinkel in 1921 replacing a wooden bridge used mainly for the transport of material for the construction of the Berlin Palace.
The eight statues depict a hero’s life from early childhood to death and weren’t completed until after the death of Schinkel in 1841.
During the Second World War, they were taken down and stored at a safe location. After the war, the bridge, left mostly undamaged, was part of the east zone, whilst the statues were stored in the west and not returned until the mid-1980s. the city palace was torn down and the bridge redubbed Marx-Engels-Bruecke. this was reverted in 1991 on the first anniversary of the German reunification.
