Tried out a new workflow with this piece, which is starting off with a base mesh in Zbrush, sculpt all details, bake the Diffuse and AO in Substance Painter, add Color Gradients to the Diffuse and use that as a base for my Handpainted texture! I learned a lot in the process in regards to zBrush and polishing my Handpainted skills when its about metal and cloth. But I also realised that I end up changing things up a lot in the final stage, which means I still rely a lot on my handpainting! This is a diorama inspired by one of Florian Dreyer’s concepts I found on Artstation called ‘Candy Farm Building’. I loved the colours and textures from the concept and really enjoyed creating it in 3D. I’m really enjoying creating these small diorama’s with handpainted textures so I’m sure there will be more coming soon. I used Maya for the modelling and Substance and Photoshop for texturing. I also created a small scene in UE4 which you can see on my Artstation post (link below).
