The wings and laser cannon turrets are all separate objects with the correct pivot points to rotate into flight mode. A few areas are very slightly simplified to keep the polycount low, and everything uses the same 2048x2048 textures. I saw this beautiful sword design by Moniek Schilder here on Artstation and felt immediately drawn to it. I knew I wanted to try a modeling a weapon while still exploring a stylized texturing technique. I hope I did Moniek’s design justice!
There are multiple things I’m pleased with on this project and multiple things I hope to resolve better in the future. One thing I’m particularly proud of is the damaged portion of the flat part of the blade, which I actually “painted” the normals for in Substance Painter! My dear friend Weston (https://www.artstation.com/westontjones) suggested I try that when I realized I forgot to sculpt the damage in Zbrush. Something I hope to learn from is the lighting issue on the handle, which is related to how I UV’d this piece. Overall, I am pleased with my growth in the past two projects!

A project I started on August 1st, 2014, when I first saw the BATMETAL animation (and got reaaaaaaally excited about it!).
Finished it now, on March 10, 2016! LOL
Not because the project was that difficult. It was mainly because of the intervals I made while working or just being too lazy to work on it.
But, recently, I thought: I need to learn how to paint awesome textures! And I thought about Substance Painter. Well, I needed a game model to learn on and I decided to finish this one.

This is another old model (ca. 2009) made for racer.nl but never saw a public release. It is roughly based on a car once made/converted by mbt_turkýsh for GTA, but there is no vertex left in place.
