So this is a little experiment I’ve been contemplating on, inspired by the food assets in Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy 15.
I took photographs of an actual meal I cooked, and spliced them in Substance Painter with a few models I specially built from reference.
Nasi Lemak is a traditional Indonesian/Malaysian dish, consisting of spiced rice, coconut milk/shavings, a portion of meat (chicken) and fresh prawns, sometimes accompanied by a fried egg.
The hardest part was translating the lighting from Substance Painter to Unreal Engine, and I have recreated it as best as I can here in sketchfab.

3D scan of the argus pheasant pair Argusianus argus. The great argus lives in the rainforests of Borneo, Sumatra and the Malay Peninsula in southeast Asia. They can grow up to 2 meters in length and are therefore among the largest of the pheasant species. This pair lived in the Schönbrunn Zoo in Vienna, Austria, and is part of the museum’s collection since 1932.
The argus pheasant is Number 79 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 31 of the NHM Vienna.

The piece is on display at the Museo Nacional de Arqueología y Etnología in Guatemala City. It sits on a cement block and wood display cradle, and is in the salon including many sculptures from Kaminaljuyu. University of South Florida researchers Travis Doering and Lori Collins documented the piece using triangulation scanning, and the USF Libraries Digital Heritage and Humanities Collections model of the 3D data highlights the carved surface details with shading and rendering using ambient occlusion.
