This project feels like the reimaging of two separate projects I’ve done in the past. Mountain top castle, and lighthouse island. Both projects that at the time I was pleased with, but looking back on I felt weren’t my best.
I liked their premises a lot so I went ahead and merged the two together. Thus Castle Island was born!
Now for this scene, I did something I don’t often do when It comes to modelling scenes. I purchased pre-existing work. I know! Crazy, but I was having a strange amount of trouble modelling grass, I couldn’t get anything that looked “grass” you know?
I found an awesome little collection pack of low poly natural and organic models. Something I do tend to struggle with making so I was in awe that I found something that fit my style and could be a great leg up in terms of things I struggle with. Definitely going to see if I can leverage these assets in the future. Cupboards were usually made by a local carpenter upon commission and their possession was indicative of its owner’s wealth. This furniture was used until July 1966 when it was purchased by the museum from Józef Mucha from Rudawa.
The surface of the cupboard is covered with a single colour primer – green obtained by mixing Parisian blue with bright yellow. Four little bouquets are put on profiled door panels. On the surface of the sides, on the external edges, a flower festoons motif is repeated. In the upper part of the base, a circular wreath of tiny leaves is painted.
