The Hryvnia or Grivna (depending on the region and dialect) were a type currency as well as a measure of weight used in Kievan Rus’ and other East Slavic countries from the 10th century up to the later middle ages. The Hryvni/Grivnas were mostly made out of roughly cast silver and some times gold.
