A commission for a friend for a submarine. Tried to make a somewhat unique-looking submarine in my own style, with a bit of futuristic flair. It’s much larger than your typical submarine, measuring in at a length of almost 305 meters, making it almost double the length of the world’s largest submarine. Did not research how submarines work or function at all, but at least tried to make it look submersible! These streets look a little different at night, don’t they? After a bit of a 3D art break (outside my work work stuff) I wanted to jump back in with a little warmup. I discovered @mellifics and fell in love with her whimsical, almost mysterious style. After reaching out, she was kind enough to allow me to work off her concept. This one started out as a test on virtual horizon on Sketchfab, and as a challenge to test out a somewhat convincing ocean animation with geometry. Note that I am not satisfied with the ocean movement and am still working on it, but I think the sense of distance (8000m) and atmosphere works decently. As an artwork the thoughts behind is simply to embrace nature, and to accept the notion that the absolute freedom is absolute loneliness.
