I started working on this at the end of 2010 in 3DS Max, but abandoned it midway through 2011. In 2013 I dug it out and baked light maps and AO maps in V-Ray before abandoning it again. At the start of 2021 I restarted work on it: I wanted to practice in 3D Coat and try to create a very soft painterly style, I was also interested in using unfiltered textures on slightly higher triangle models.

There are three textures variatons for each mesh, in 2048px, 1024px or 512px, each in PBR (diffuse, roughness, metalness, normal map). For some textures, you can use the same maps and just change the diffuse one. Don’t forget to check the model without filters before buying.

Normally Teke-Teke is depicted as a teenager but I made mine closer to elementary school aged. In the hypothetical game she would be placed in I felt like the change would make her creepier. She was completely sculpted in ZBrush. Her low res was made in Maya and her textures were done in Substance Painter. This is a 3D scan of a cockroach I bought on etsy. It’s part of a larger project where I combined 3D modeled assets with photogrammetry (see http://whatswrongwithwhite.tumblr.com/image/177884973392 ). I used a lot of custom photo equipment (macro lens, polarization filters, extension tubes and a 3D printed cockroach holder from shapeways). For cleanup I used blender (cleaning up holes, chopping up into body parts, modeling deatils). For the final material design and export Substance Painter did a great job.
