Wanted to do something cute for a change. First thing that came to my mind was a fox selling sugar, an old inside joke with my little brothers that has spread in my family and extended family. It is also neatly connected with a local saying (unreliable translation) “Sour, said the fox about the rowan berry”. A quick internet search told me that this saying seems to be a localized reference to the “The Fox and the Grapes” fable. So I added some rowan berries and leaves. Fox sculpted in Zbrush, retopo in Blender and texturing in substance painter. Following a Japanese theme, I created a pond featuring a bamboo spout with a bowl, a water lantern, lily pads and waterlilies. The bamboo spout and bowl references the Tsukubai and Shishi-Odoshi fountains commonly found in Japanese gardens while the floating lantern is inspired by Tōrō Nagashi, a Japanese ceremony where paper lanterns are released into the river. This environmental prop was inspired by Inès “Ourka” Rotzinger’s concept art for Amber Isle (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/ZeBWom). The way they draw lily pads is really cute and I love the colours of the water, the foam streaks and the fun foam bubbles so I tried to preserve these traits in the texture and the 3D model. Today i’m glad to show you the last project I worked on this month of February with some Friends. Why ? Cause no, it’s not a piece I plan whatever to sell, but It was about making a quick overview of a futur real project. It was about an Archaeopark on the coast of the french riviera :) The project is expected to include several building like a Noreia (ship covered structure) a Palestre (Gymnase), A villa, some Houses, a Bouleuterion and small Culte Area. As you maybe know, the region was largely colonize by people from ancient Greece, who founded either counters or strongholds like Marseille (Massalia) - Hyères (Olbia) - Agde (Agathé Tyché) - Antibes (Antipolis), Nice (Nicaia) through the coast. So it could be cool to see theses reconstructed one day ! Of course for the moment, I insist, this is just a first preview of what this could be. Hello everyone, This was such a cool project to work on. I made this project based on the concept art from Kyle Corneliushttps://www.artstation.com/artwork/5l2Kz. Everything has a first time well this project was a lot of first times. This is my first time working in zbrush I always wanted to learn how to sculpt and work it down to a useable game ready creature. After making the high poly in zbrush I went to Maya for the retopo this was also a first for me so learned to work with the quad draw tool. When the low poly was done I uv unwrapped in Maya and textured in substance painter. I went back to zbrush for the posing. So this project began being another hand paint piece, but then I started trying post processing effects here in Sketchfab and I realized it looked quite good as a grayscale. This is the first time I use the post-processing so much, up to the point it’s changing the whole final result. I’m still happy with this project. I used Geometry nodes to spawn different elements on the ground. The leaves texture for the trees is not complete since I didn’t have enough time to get into that level of detail.
