This is a project I’ve been working on for around a week and a half. I was set a project by my University to create a “well” in any style. I’ve always loved how stylized/hand-painted assets look in games such as World of Warcraft, League of Legends etc. So I wanted to take it upon myself to attempt this style. I’m overall happy with the final design, although if I were to spend more time on it, there are a few things I would refine. These silhouette sculpture portray feathered vision serpents and are unique to
Copan. It is believed that originally they were part of the decoration of Structure 3.
Vision serpents are the conduit between the earth and the supernatural realms. They connect a Maya king to his source of spiritual power from the gods and deified ancestors (Asociacion Copan, 2010, p.195).
