This was my summer project before starting second year at DMU Game Art, although due to some module mix up, I spent about 3 weeks revisiting it on and off. The brief was to make a 10m x 10m realistic-style castaway island, using substance painter to texture. I originally planned to do a pirate-themed island and made extra props, but realised that they just didn’t work at all with the scene. Instead I’ve kept it very basic and natural. I don’t think it’s super realistic at all and if I had more time I would probably have devoted more of it to better texturing, but I think for a last-minute project it’s not too bad ^^ 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 8269 polygons.

I have to design the whole thing from the ground up, from the size of the barrel, its bullet all the way to how the magazine can actually insert into the gun. My responsibility was to design and create the city street and implement it inside Unreal engine while ensuring performance. Due to the scope of project I created modular assets that can be instanced in order to keep with in performance targets and meet the scale of the scene. The road seen above is 6 tiles each with which I mixed and matched to hide repetition and tiling issues.
