One of the biggest lessons I learned from doing this project is that not everything is just not going to be perfect. I spent hours fixing miniscule things, trying to get the perfect alignment when in reality it literally didn’t matter as long it was good enough. The design itself was mainly inspired by Futurama Robots and Team Fortress 2 MVM robots. Anyways I’m happy with what I’ve created. The site is undergoing restoration treatments and our 3D survey was performed prior to that work, digitally documenting and preserving the site for archival purposes. Our 3D work is additionally assistive with preservation planning and supportive of management needs, and can be utilized for structural repair documentation, monitoring, and condition assessment. Using these models, 3D prints can also be made to examine construction techniques in tactile ways.
