The Erechtheion or Erechtheum is an ancient Greek temple on the north side of the Acropolis of Athens in Greece which was dedicated to both Athena and Poseidon. The temple as seen today was built between 421 and 406 BC. The Erectheum was associated with some of the most ancient and holy relics of the Athenians, such as the Palladion (Protectress of the City),the marks of Poseidon’s trident and the sacred olive tree planted by Athena. Seden Society Puppet Theater Foundation is an important NGO that conserves mass puppet bodies, accessories and script documents. However, these relics are facing serious aging effect, such as surface cracking and peeling off, and the aging issue causes open demonstration and performance are not feasible. Besides, only few specific conservators can restore the relics, and the maintenance efficiency is very limited. Therefore, in this project, a SOP of 3D scanning for the mass puppet bodies is established to accelerate the collection of the puppet bodies’ original mesh models, and enable the modeling staff to fix mesh flaws digitally. These STL models can be preserved in the on-line database systematically, and demonstrated in a free 3D viewpoint. Furthermore, several scanned puppet prototypes are duplicated in an enlarged scale by the 3D printer for better display function in the following exhibitions. The relics, known as the Mjölnir (Mjöllnir) amulets, appear to depict hammers, which historians have linked to the Norse god Thor . However, this could not be concluded with certainty for a very long time as their shapes are not conclusive and none of them contained inscriptions revealing their identity. But things changed in 2014, when one amulet was found with a clear indication describing what the pendant is trying to depict. That artifact was found in Købelev, on the Danish island of Lolland . It was the first of its kind to be discovered with an inscription. The runic text reads “Hmar x is”, which translates to “this is a hammer”. Cast in bronze, and likely plated with silver, tin, and gold, the 1,100-year-old pendant shows that Thor’s myth deeply influenced Viking jewelry . As I am a huge fan of cultural heritage and ancient relics, I decided to create a full body visualisation of Neferteti with Metahuman and Unreal 5. While working on that, it came to my mind remake the well known bust with focus on the clothing, since the bodymesh wasn’t created by me. But I created all the accessoires and clothes, using Cinema 4D, Blender, Zbrush and Substance Painter. I’ll paste a link to the full project when it’s finished.
