Hello everybody. As part of Sketchfab’s Low Poly Pirates competition I created this scene. I was a big fan of TaleSpin and especially of Don Karnage. If you never heard about him, check out the best of Don Karnage on YouTube: here. However, that is why I decided to create airships. I had a lot of fun wiht that scene. I made everything by myself. I struggled with the maelstrom. I tried a lot of different styles. I needed around three days to find a satisfiying solution for me. Altogether I worked one week at that scene. I hope you like it. “The Atalan Classic Series: Snub Class. Now just a relic of bygone days and championships lost to the ages. She’s reliable as hell though, pretty sure this one is held together by rust and a little T.L.C.” I think its safe to say that she’s finally done. Began as an asset for a group project which never got off the drawing board. The idea was for a racing vehicle which moves at high speeds over water. I looked at retro and classic car and plane designs to get the initial concept done, and the design process snowballed into what you see here. Specular and Normals are a little rushed but they do the job. Geometry created in 3DS Max. It’s almost a year ago that I uploaded my first ship model, the IJN Fubuki, so I decided to make one of her more advanced sister ships: The IJN Ayanami. The Ayanami was build for the Imperial Japanese Navy and when introduced into service she was one of the most powerful destroyer in the world. She sustained critical damage after being shelled by the USS Washington during the second phase of the Battle of Guadalcanal (15 November 1942) and was later scuttled by IJN Uranami. Olive Jar Rim #BAH1993-1474. Spanish colonial era ships frequently carried amphora-like earthenware jugs called “olive jars” (botijas in Spanish) to hold wine, oil, & vinegar. These egg-shaped jars were roughly 50 centimeters tall by 30-40 cm in diameter. The St. Johns Wreck, believed to be that of the 1564 galleon Santa Clara, carried at least 130 olive jars; most broke when the ship wrecked – we only know the number by tallying the surviving rims. This rim has an outside diameter of 9.2 cm, and stands 4 cm tall.
