3D scan of a skull cast of the three-horned dinosaur Triceratops horridus. Triceratops lived during the latest Cretaceous in what is now North America. It was one of the largest horned dinosaurs and could reach a weight up to 10 tons. Its skull alone could grow over 2 meters in length! The name Triceratops is derived from the Greek words trí- (τρί-) meaning ‘three', kéras (κέρας) meaning ‘horn', and ṓps (ὤψ) meaning ‘face'. This cast of the Triceratops horridus skull can be found in Hall 10 of the NHM Vienna next to the T. rex skull. 3D scan of a tuatara (Sphenodon punctatus), a lizard that lives on small islands off the coast of New Zealand. The tuatara has a strong, stocky body. The neck, back and tail bear a crest of long scales. The animals reach a total length of 65 to 75 cm and are crepuscular and nocturnal.
This specimen is Number 68 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 27 of the Natural History Museum Vienna.
