In 1518 4 ships and 260 men left the island of Cuba lead by Juan de Grijalva and commanded by Francisco de Montejo being the first sights and encounter in the Yucatan Peninsula, the Spanish ships encountered the ancient city of Tulum in which they were confronted with war. During Mictlan, this will be one of the first scenes showcasing the dynamic and evolving scenario of what would become the beginning of a bloody and tragic war against the people of Mesoamerica. I wanted to make a new hellenic thing, but then realised that this may be original Roman design - at least I found no evidence of greek origins of the design. It’s still doric though!
This model is based on the sarcophagus of Lucius Cornelius Scipio Barbatus (clearly a roman guy), and here is the fun fact - the inscription on the tablet was once redone, most likely by one of the relatives of Scipio.
