This is a 3D middle poly stylized character for PC NSFW game “Clarity” that is currently in development. Character is designed and created by me for this game. Model also includes naked body with “additionals” for story and gameplay purposes. Current model features only “Walk cycle” due to my software limitations. My pipeline for creation: 1. Photoshop, 2d concept art + final references; 2. Zbrush, high poly model with details; 3. Maya, retopology, UV maps; 4. Substance Painter + Photoshop, PBR textures; 5. Maya, rigging and animation. There is no evolutionary link between the Mirelurk Kings and the Mirelurks themselves, but the story I told myself while building this Lovecraftian monstrosity was that his kind had evolved in ways that allowed them to dominate and perhaps control their less intelligent Mirelurk peers.
To reinforce this idea, I doubled down on the “Kingly” imagery by sculpting a hard-shelled crown (which was in the concept art to begin with) a la Dunkleosteus, as well as dressing him in long, sweeping red “gill robes,” like the ancient western kings (which was not in the concept art). I built him anticipating that he’d walk upright, proudly, with this chest out - like the Fallout 3 variety. Alas, the animator chose a more froggish route.

This is another personal project I completed as part of a series of environment pieces I’ve been aiming to interconnect in a game engine. I wanted to focus on modular asset development to prep for larger projects in the future. I also got to try out some excellent terrain brushes that I recently purchased for ZBrush. I went for an aged Lighthouse as it appealed more to my style/sensibilities (clean is boring). Object curated by the The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature (formerly the South Florida Museum), Bradenton, FL. This object (#A143), is from the Tallant collections received in c. 1940. This piece was noted by archaeologist John Mann Goggin as possibly being related to the Glades III Period in Florida prehistory (AD 1200-1763). Goggin only saw images and a drawing of the piece, and its true provenance and dating remain unknown. The small, 10.5 cm high piece appears to be that of an anthropomorphic owl.
