Foreign service pith helmet, worn during the Boer War. A Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry badge in red with white embroidered text ‘Cornwall' surmounted by a bugle. Belonging to Serjeant George, a Cornishman from Mylor, first served with 1st Battalion DCLI and saw action in the Tirah Campaign (1897/8, in modern day Pakistan). There are 2 belt hooks on the back of wither hip and a large slit up the back of the garment to help aid movement. The jacket has been well worn, but looked after, evident through the inside lining on either arm pit.
