One caryatid from the temple of Athena on the Acropolis in Athens. This is a replica, original ones being exposed in museums in Greece but also one in the British Museum. Limited scan. Because of the difficult environment, I was forced to take pictures from very far with almost no sight of the back. I partly reconstructed missing parts in this area and textured too. I also did some manual delighting in blender to suppress hard shadows caused by morning sunlight. A caryatid is a sculpted female figure serving as an architectural support taking the place of a column or a pillar supporting an entablature on her head. I uploaded the sword alone previously and planned to upload its sheath separately, but eventually decided put them together so it can have a complete showcase as a set. Both high res model and all the details made in Zbrush, painted the texture in substance painter. The animal on the sheath at first was just flat shapes with no details on it, and I thought I finished the model. Later on I looked at it again and again, eventually decided I should add more details and to make the animal figures more alive and to give them more characters, since this was a sword made for Paraoh’s battles, it just has to have that spirit. Painting the texture was another challenge since there are just so many details on the original antique. Made this piece with a heart of awe, and it was a great learning experience!
