Upper portion of a limestone statue of Thutmose III from Deir el-Bahri displayed in the Cairo Museum. The torso of the statue without the face was found in the early 20th century and now is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The face was found during excavations at Deir el-Bahri by the Polish Expedition in the 1960s and is in the Cairo Museum collections. Casts were made of each poriton of the statue and exchanged between the institutions. Today the original face and cast of the torso can be seen in Cairo and the original torso and cast of the face can be seen in New York. Created from 113 images (Canon EOS Rebel T7i) using Metashape 1.7.5. Access to the back of the statue was difficult and repairs to the reconstructed mesh were made in Blender 2.92. I uploaded the sword alone previously and planned to upload its sheath separately, but eventually decided put them together so it can have a complete showcase as a set. Both high res model and all the details made in Zbrush, painted the texture in substance painter. The animal on the sheath at first was just flat shapes with no details on it, and I thought I finished the model. Later on I looked at it again and again, eventually decided I should add more details and to make the animal figures more alive and to give them more characters, since this was a sword made for Paraoh’s battles, it just has to have that spirit. Painting the texture was another challenge since there are just so many details on the original antique. Made this piece with a heart of awe, and it was a great learning experience!
