Realtime replica of a Slurpee Machine. The silly thing that started it all, this model is a passionate re-do of the first model I ever made. This chess set design was inspired by schematic chess drawings. (See example below.) I was so charmed by the chess piece symbols that I wanted to see if I could turn them into a “playable” set.
After modeling the pieces, I added bases to the knight, bishop, queen, and king to establish the proper hierarchy. (Otherwise, the pawn would have been taller than the king.)
I particularly love that the bishop, queen, and king are represented by elaborate headgear.

My submission for a past Sketchwars theme: redo a classic…
My thought is that something went astray with the Thunderbird between 1963 and 1967. My 3D sketch is a proposal for a different aesthetic bridge between the lovely 1963 body style and the somewhat radical departure of 1967. This took 4 hours to do, completely done in 3D while immersed in VR using Gravity Sketch. I had 2D reference pictures in the scene, but all the ideation of the forms was done in 3D.
This is a non-traditional medium (skipping 2D) so I did a bunch of tweaking with post process effects to give it a more grainy textured paper/punchy colors/rendered look … minus the dabs of white gouache for highlights!
