The cluster is nearly equant (1 cm across), doubly-terminated, adamantine luster, and reddish to deep-orange in color. The prismatic faces are incredibly lustrous while the basal faces are a little less so. Vanadinite is an important ore of vanadium (V) and a minor source of the lead (Pb). Vanadinite usually forms where lead minerals are oxidized (as secondary mineral), often in areas with an arid climate. It is commonly associated with the oxidation of galena. În anul 1955, în cariera Fabricii de Ciment de la Medgidia, a fost descoperită o piesă unică în lumea tracică și scitică: o sabie-emblemă, din bronz, în formă de akinakes, care se aplica, probabil, pe un monument comemorativ sau pe sarcofacul ori pe zidul camerei funerare a unei căpetenii militare. Spadă scurtă (akinakes de tip Kelermes, cu mâner în forma literei „T” și garda în formă de inimă) din bronz, turnată dintr-o singură bucată, împreună cu teaca. Reprezentare a unei arme ceremoniale din categoria „spadelor-emblemă”, utilizată probabil, date fiind niturile masive de pe verso, pentru a fi fixată pe o statuie (menhir ?).
