ES2802 Project 2: Photoscan 3D model of Durian, the King of Fruits Durian has thick and thorny skin. It is famous and well known as the inspiration for Singapore’s Esplanade. Not only so, it is notoriously famous for its overwhelming stench. Yet to some, the smell is disgustingly nice. Durians are also analogues of treasure chests with many compartments. Inside each durian is approximately 5 different segments with each enclosing 2/3 portions of creamy yellow coloured and textured flesh wrapping around a large seed. After opening the durian, the excitement comes to know exactly how many segments (and thus how many flesh of durians you get) there are. You can just keep splitting it open to find more “treasures”. If you happen to visit Singapore, be sure to give it a try! Even if you hate it, it's a once in a lifetime experience. This lovely Green House-inspired terrarium was created in 1869. After its original owner died, It was stored in a warehouse for many years gathering dust. The antique house decoration was recently found and restored, now it’s being auctioned off to the highest bidder.
Process
This is a game-res model created in Maya with a high-res normal map baked in substance painter. The materials were made using a PBR workflow to create the textures and all other maps present within the model.
