I was aiming for a Warcraft look (as in Frozen Throne, not necessarily WoW) with limited resolution hand painted textures.
Glow FX were originally done as billboard planes, flickering was achieved by randomly rescaling them; the little bat and moving candle flames were animated by shifting UV - as these techniques are currently unavailable on Sketchfab I edited them out and left a static model with no billboard tracking. The model works perfectly in close-ups and high quality renders. It was originally modelled in 3ds Max 16, textured in Substance Painter and rendered with Marmoset Toolbag 3.
