Fatally venomous and hostile, but nevertheless resourceful from whatever and “whomever” resources they’d come across. Ineveitably a sturdy exo shell and venomous pincers wont be enough to harmlessly survive the mercilous enviroment and everythinng else “dwelling’ throughout, but for every threat on the other side of survival comes another tool towards it. Be it serrated claws and sturdy bones or resourceful pelts, skin and scaled hydes. Covering fleshwound after scar after fleshwound after laceration after evisceration and scars. Holy moly did it feel like an eternity since I started on this guy, but atlast here it is. Made a few provisional demo animations. Hope you like what you see and to hear what you think.

I uploaded the sword alone previously and planned to upload its sheath separately, but eventually decided put them together so it can have a complete showcase as a set. Both high res model and all the details made in Zbrush, painted the texture in substance painter. The animal on the sheath at first was just flat shapes with no details on it, and I thought I finished the model. Later on I looked at it again and again, eventually decided I should add more details and to make the animal figures more alive and to give them more characters, since this was a sword made for Paraoh’s battles, it just has to have that spirit. Painting the texture was another challenge since there are just so many details on the original antique. Made this piece with a heart of awe, and it was a great learning experience!

The last character of my Oxymoron Project
This is a personal project I named Oxymoron Project. It consists of three main character which are contradictory. The project started when I heard by the very first time the meaning of oxymoron, a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction. The first concept was only on my head 8 years ago,and now they are in 3D. The first oxymoron example was cold fire and that’s how I imagined a cute flame character with cold. I saw this beautiful sword design by Moniek Schilder here on Artstation and felt immediately drawn to it. I knew I wanted to try a modeling a weapon while still exploring a stylized texturing technique. I hope I did Moniek’s design justice!
There are multiple things I’m pleased with on this project and multiple things I hope to resolve better in the future. One thing I’m particularly proud of is the damaged portion of the flat part of the blade, which I actually “painted” the normals for in Substance Painter! My dear friend Weston (https://www.artstation.com/westontjones) suggested I try that when I realized I forgot to sculpt the damage in Zbrush. Something I hope to learn from is the lighting issue on the handle, which is related to how I UV’d this piece. Overall, I am pleased with my growth in the past two projects!
