As a mineral, sulfur is a bright yellow crystalline material. It forms near volcanic vents and fumaroles, where it sublimates from a stream of hot gases. Small amounts of native sulfur also form during the weathering of sulfate and sulfide minerals.

Description: The name Diamond refers to its hardness (Greek - adamas, invincible) and has rank 10 on the Mohs scale. There is nothing comparable to it in hardness. These assets were generated from scans of beach pebbles and stones I picked up on the shore between Plouguerneau and Roscoff, in France. I did not specifically select extraordinary samples, but rather tried to go for a broad diversity of colors and shapes in order to create an interesting pack.

E.S. Fedorov developed a 4-axis universal stage in 1892 in response to a need to characterize feldspar-group minerals.
