This is a bit of an experiment and still a work in progress. The Smithsonian has a mammoth skeleton for download, http://3d.si.edu/downloads/55 . Mammoths are, of course, relatives of African elephants. But they are more comparable with Indian elephants. Making a skeleton is a a lot of work and I wanted to see if I would be able to take an educated guess and turn the mammoth skeleton into an African (bush) elephant skeleton. I am still going to ask people who know to review it, but for now here it is. I will probably use this slot to upload the updated versions. The medieval chess pieces from the Scottish island of Lewis are among our most popular collections. They give us fascinating insights into the international connections of western Scotland and the growing popularity of chess in medieval Europe. The eleven chess pieces on display in the Museum of Scotland were part of a large hoard buried on Lewis. The hoard contained 93 gaming pieces in total, including at least four chess sets as well as pieces from other games.
