Burke Cephalopods are extant (living) marine mollusks characterized by tentacles attached to a cone-shaped body. The name cephalopod comes directly from the Greek kephalopoda, “head-feet.” Most fossil cephalopods formed an external calcareous (made of calcium carbonate) shell around their body. The shell may be straight (rthoconic), curved (cyrtoconic), or coiled. As cephalopods grow, shells are sealed off into increasingly large chambers, with the body remaining connected by soft tissue in a thin tube called the siphuncle. Each model is made of 1500 triangles, and 1024 pixels albedo and normal maps.
The original scans were first remeshed with mmgs, and decimated, UV unwrapped and baked in blender. Normal maps are ready to use for Unreal Engine, but don’t forget to flip their green channel in Unity!

Fossils are often a labour of love and this is a good example of that. Sometimes they tell a story too. This ammonite assemblage from the Jurassic green ammonite beds of Charmouth, Dorset seems to have been trapped inside a larger Liparoceras ammonite. However, only pieces of the larger ammonite remain, perhaps as a result of breaking apart from the pressure of the smaller ammonites trapped in the body chamber. There are several different species preserved including Tragyphyloceras, Aegoceras? shells and juvenile ammonite specimens.
