This is my entry for the Low Poly Game Challenge for Sketchfab!
The hero of the game is a brave Monk, surrounded by his KI energy, which is willing to fight the scary Ryuu Dragon to save his friend, trapped at the top of the castle.
In the left side of the screen, there’s a Takoyaki shop where you can recharge your energy.
And in the right side, you can find Kappa, a fisherman with whom you can talk to ear prizes.
Get ready and fight the dragon to follow the path and get the Daruma item. That’s the only way to get inside the castle, which is floating in the blue sky air above furious sea.
It was modeled and assembled with Maya.
For this scene, I used a few textures, for the sky, sea and caustic, made with Photoshop. Besides these textures, everything is just flat color shader to achieve the toon look.

So, I decided to use this diorama school project as a way to explore what 3d can offer and how it looks it other completely different styles.
I went on a completely different direction from my first project (treasure chest) going from a some what realistic hand painted to the most stylized texture I could do. I decided to do cell shading for this one, although cell shading material doesn’t export to sketchfab I decided to duplicate every object and flip it’s polygons to give a similar ilusion, ence the diorama having the double of the budget tri on sketchfab. This was my summer project before starting second year at DMU Game Art, although due to some module mix up, I spent about 3 weeks revisiting it on and off. The brief was to make a 10m x 10m realistic-style castaway island, using substance painter to texture. I originally planned to do a pirate-themed island and made extra props, but realised that they just didn’t work at all with the scene. Instead I’ve kept it very basic and natural.
