Every single asset used in this environment comes from that pack. It uses 4 different materials (five if we count the water, as it was separated for manual opacity control), each one with Albedo, Roughness, Normal, AO, Metallic and Opacity maps. Most textures (Environment, People and Market) are 1024x1024, and the one cotaining all the buildings is 2048x2048. Also, most of the details are contained on the normal map, resulting in a low poly count. Even if the scene reaches over 500k polys, keep in mind the size of the city.
As for this scene, it has been something I’ve wanted to create for so many years, and I finally decided to make it with the pack. It even works as an UE4 level. I challenged myself to design and model a robot, this dude took me almost a full year to come up with. I’m so bad when it comes to imagining robots and I’m even worse at hard surface modeling. Another challenge I put on myself was to try and not use ball joints, It felt like I was cheating if I used them in my design. One of the biggest lessons I learned from doing this project is that not everything is just not going to be perfect. I spent hours fixing miniscule things, trying to get the perfect alignment when in reality it literally didn’t matter as long it was good enough. The design itself was mainly inspired by Futurama Robots and Team Fortress 2 MVM robots. Anyways I’m happy with what I’ve created. Enjoy!
