The design is also remarkably similar to flamethrowers. I was inspired to make it an Overwatch weapon, but realistic. I imagined a character that used a WWII style flamethrower, but modernized of course. I went a little far with the initial blockout and moving straight into the highres was a lot of cleanup work. I ended up making more fluid straps so the model was more dynamic. I struggled with cleanup when trying to make the game res, but in the end it got where it needed to be. I’m happy with how the floating geometry baked. The textures needed to feel like propane tanks or fire extinguishers. I got some great feedback to fix the contrast and realism, I’m very happy with where this has gone so far. The dimensions of the various modules were designed with modularity in mind. I wanted to be able to slot any door to any frame and any handle onto any door in order to improve efficiency. Additionally in my own Unity implementation, the seperation between the door handles and the plates allow animation using transforms. Modelled using Blender, textured in Substance Painter, with additional processing in Substance Designer and Photoshop. On purchase includes a .blend file.
