Character model from school exam. First full character I’ve ever made from start to finish. Sadly because of time constraint and a lot of setbacks, I had to scope down the design and sculpt, taking away a lot of planned details. Did a lot of mistakes, and I can see how I need to focus more on nailing the low poly topology, to get better baking results in the future. Did a scan of one of our company shirts for a quick project. This is the first time I’ve combined two sides of a soft-body scan - cloth tends to be somewhat floppy. To flip the shirt without messing up the fold pattern, I made a sort of cardboard sandwich I could press together. I also overexposed the shots to improve the scan. The cleanup wasn’t too bad. Even after deleting points from the platforms from the dense cloud they still made their way into the mesh a little. Ended up taking those out in Max, then smoothing things over in ZBrush. I also used ZBrush for the decimation and unwrap, and was really happy about the results. I like Max’s peel feature, but UV Master in ZBrush goes so much faster and gets rid of all the overlaps even if the result is bent a little. I also still need to find a faster way to patch up seams. There was one towards the “south” side of the shirt that I had to a 2nd channel unwrap -> bake -> photoshop -> bake to ch1 -> mask into texture approach. I bought a setup for my microscope to use it as a photogrammetry tool for very small objects. I’m not there yet regarding accuracy, but I am pleased with this first results. The photogrammetry C1 I made by mirroring the half that was completely scanned, and I still miss a lot of details, but the reason for wanting to be able to also make photogrammetry models is that I want to be sure about the overall shape of my models. As you can see, even though most of it is the same, especially the transverse processes (the “wings”) have a slightly different orientation. I need to redo the scan to be sure if I need to remodel the modeled C1. I added another scan made with agisoft with the same set of photos. The scan is totally different somehow, not only in the details but also in the larger features. (and yes, I’m a perfectionist..) Edit: added yet another version with agisoft. Used 514 photos and mirrored one half. It’s getting better, even without image stacking. This was an area I wasn’t very confident in (sculpting especially) and so I’ve learnt tons this last week! I’m hoping to be more involved in future challenges as I enjoyed this one tons! Another new installation of the dragon variants after a while, but less outdated this time. A variant of dragon, progenitor of a once renowned hierarchy among the dragon world. Overall rigged as usual but nothing too complicated id say since I usually like to keep it relatively simple, so if youve seen the other models you can expect the same thing in general (but in the form of a dragon though). Plus some animtations I managed to pull off. All the smaller sets were building up to this. The bandit camp was originally conceptualize for the mediterranean, pirate / magic themed level I was building in Unreal for whta I called the Amalgam game. I made the concept of a single level I wanted to make, similarly to the one I did 3 years ago, but fully with my own assets. The bandit camp is using sets of items. each set consist of 5-10 items and they share the UV map per set. I tried to logically put together items that are relatively close, so when the engine needs to load them, it will be easy, but I’m not really sure I achieved the desired effect, since now for a very small item, the engine also needs to load a larger picture. Without comaring the results in unreal with this approach and to have every item use their own UV, would take me to re-UV all items, but that’s too much work..
